What is the Thanksgiving Day 5K?
The Thanksgiving Day 5K Benefiting Martha’s Village and Kitchen is an annual, family-friendly, run/walk fundraiser in Palm Desert, CA. The goal of the 5K is to raise awareness about Martha’s Village and Kitchen’s services, and to provide funds to support our mission to end hunger and homelessness in the Coachella Valley. Over 4,000 people attend the event annually including participants, spectators, and volunteers.  This year, the event will be done differently due to COVID-19.  “5k Your Way” will be done differently but the spirit remains the same and the need is greater than ever.

When/where is the event held?
The Thanksgiving Day 5K is traditionally held on Thanksgiving Morning each year. This year’s 5K takes place where you want to run or walk!  “5K Your Way” means you choose the map, the area and form your own family and friends team.  Individuals and teams can choose any day from Thanksgiving through the Thanksgiving weekend.

How Can I Register?
Online registration is strongly recommended.

Registration can also be completed in person at either of the two pre-event registration/packet pickup days.

Can I mail in my registration and payment?
Yes, however it MUST BE RECEIVED at Martha’s Village and Kitchen by Monday, November 16, 2020. Please make a check payable to “Martha’s Village and Kitchen” and include on a separate piece of paper the info for each person you’re registering: the first and last name, date of birth, sex, email address, phone number and desired shirt size.

How will I receive my shirt and/or merchandise? When/where are packet pickup locations? 
Shirts, race numbers and merchandise can be picked up at either of the two packet pickup days. See pre-event packet pickup locations listed in the question above the last.

Is there an age requirement?
There is no age requirement.

Do I have to pay for and register my children?
Children need to register if they want a long-sleeve event shirt and goody bag.

Can I get a refund?
We do not issue refunds under any circumstances.

Is the race timed?
No, this year due to COVID-19 there will be no timing.

When and where will the results be posted?
Due to COVID-19 there will be no timing results.

How do I know if I won a medal and where do I pick it up?
There will be prizes for a variety of categories.  To be announced.

Can I bring a dog on a leash or a child in a stroller?
Not applicable this year due to COVID-19.

Are scooters or bicycles allowed?
Not applicable this year due to COVID-19.

I registered online, but I never received a confirmation email. What do I do?
First, be sure to check your spam folder to ensure your email confirmation didn’t end up in there. We can resend your confirmation to you upon request. Simply email info@marthasvillage.org with your name, email address you registered with, and phone number.

Can I get a discount on groups of 3 or more?
Group discount will be available.

Where should we park at the event?
Not applicable this year due to COVID-19.

Is a course map available?
5K course maps throughout Coachella Valley will be posted soon

What time does the race actually start?
Run or walk “5K Your Way” any day from Thanksgiving morning through the weekend.

What time should I arrive to the race?
Not applicable this year due to COVID-19.

What time is the event over?
“5K Your Way” run/walk portion is over Sunday, November 29th.

Do you run in inclement weather?
Martha’s Village & kitchen’s 14th Annual 5K will run rain or shine.

Can I purchase a shirt alone (without registration)?
Any shirts not used will be available at our Village Thrift Store.

Will water  and snacks be provided for participants?
Not applicable this year due to COVID-19.

How are funds raised from the 5K used?
All funds raised for Martha’s Village & Kitchen go to support programs and services that help impoverished and homeless individuals and families in the Coachella Valley.

Is there a minimum amount participants must raise in order to participate?
Fundraising is highly encourage and deeply appreciated but not necessary. All donations  support programs and services that help impoverished and homeless individuals and families in the Coachella Valley.
